They also said that ‘If Enfield adopted the same approach they would report in the region of 5,900 fly tips a year*, putting them significantly below Barnet, Waltham Forest and Camden.’
The report also found that more than one million incidents of fly-tipping were dealt with by councils in the UK between 2016-17 costing the taxpayer £58 million to clear up
This is the fourth year that the figures have risen
DEFRA said that two-thirds of fly-tipping was from household waste.
There was 1,002,000 cases of fly-tipping handled by councils in England, equivalent to 114 every hour
