It follows a recent survey, published by the Assembly, which found that 81 per cent of school leaders have experienced diminished special needs and disability support because of local authority cuts.
From January 2011 to January 2016 the number of pupils educated in special needs schools in London rose 23 per cent, compared to the 10 per cent growth rate that occurred in the rest of England.
Staff at the state-maintained special needs school in Camden, which has trained over 2,300 teachers since 2012, are finding it hard to cope.
The Assembly’s Educational panel visited the Swiss Cottage School, Development and Research Centre yesterday to see how it could help meet the growing demand for places.
Together with members of Camden Local Authority they met with the Swiss Cottage school leadership team for roundtable discussions.
They also conducted interviews with parents.
Chair of the Education Panel Jennette Arnold said a report was due to be published in late February or March 2018.
