Former Bruce Grove ward Councillor Stuart McNamara accused Kober of misusing taxpayer funds after the implementation of the Haringey Development Vehicle (HDV), which he described as a vanity project.
In his resignation letter (date), McNamara alleged that Kober had ‘used her position to damage the Labour Party.’
The Haringey Development Vehicle is a scheme that aims to provide new jobs and homes for residents within the borough, with help from the private developer Lendlease.
Responding to McNamara’s, Kober thanked him for his work as a councillor, whilst rebutting the claims concerning misspending.
Kober insists that the HDV scheme is essential to tackle the housing crisis in Haringey, and claims that the majority of the Labour Party supports it.
But, there have been calls within the party for a pause to the HDV scheme.
In a September speech, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn criticised the scheme calling it was a form of ‘social cleansing.’
