Police have released an image of a male suspect they would like to speak to about the two sexual assault reports.
The first sexual assault incident happened on 1 August. A 17-year-old girl boarded a 316 bus in Cricklewood around 4:40 p.m., and sat on the lower deck towards the back of the bus.
It’s reported that a man got on the bus around 15 minutes later in Kilburn and sat next to the 17-year-old. He opened up a newspaper on his lap and sexually assaulted the girl. She confronted the man, then got up and sat at another seat. It is believed that he got off the bus in the Noting Hill Gate area.
The second sexual assault report happened on 28 August at around 1:30 p.m. A woman in her 40s boarded a 36 bus in the Westminster area headed towards the West End. A man got on the bus shortly after and sat next to the woman. Again, opening a newspaper on his lap, he subjected the victim to sexual assault.
The man that police officers would like to speak is to is described as a white male in his 40s or 50s. He is of medium build and around 6ft tall. In both sexual assault reports, he was wearing a black baseball cap with a white logo, a black t-shirt, dark-coloured trousers, and boots.
Police Constable Sarah Bunting said: “We believe the same man is responsible for both attacks, and we need the public’s help to trace him. If you recognise the man in the CCTV still images, we should urge you to get in touch right away.”
