City of London Police are joining together with City of London Corporation to bring Prevent Community Engagement Sessions to the public to help ease terrorism.
With rising numbers of terror attacks happening in the UK these sessions aim to stop people becoming involved in or supporting any form of extremism.
These sessions are taking place across the City of London for the rest of the week.
Prevent is one of four strands of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy, known as Contest. It was created by the Labour government in 2003 and its remit was widened by the coalition government in 2011.
The other strands are: Prepare; Protect; and Pursue.
Prevent is designed to support people at risk of joining extremist groups and carrying out extremist activities.
The Prevent Engagement Team works with communities as part of the Prevent strategy to target terrorism.
They identify sensitive cultural and politically relevant tensions and grievances.
