London Euston is preparing for HS2.

A local Pub landlord, Craig Douglas, is having his livelihood demolished by the end of the week to make way for the HS2 construction.  The £56 billion railway connecting Birmingham to London, will prove to be a comfortable solution to many commuters, but certainly a devastating loss for the owner and many loyal customers.

The Bree Louise is a pub affectionately named after the owner’s daughter Bree Louise, who died as a baby at only 12 weeks old. The owners have voiced their resistance to the House of Commons and the House of Lords. No changes have been made to the plans, however, and the pub will close.

The pub was named “Euston’s best kept secret,” it’s a small pub, busy with locals and new visitors, a long list of ales and no standard music or football games.

The pub will be a loss for many, and a sad occasion for lovers of real ale in the Euston area.
