The Chairman of the Hampstead Cemetery, Bernard Heymann, told City News the dogs in the area should not be allowed to be let off-lead in public areas like the Cemetery, as it is disrespectful and disruptive.
However, Jill Henry, a local dog walker believes the legislation will prevent dogs from getting adequate exercise. In reaction she has started a petition for the cancel to provide an enclosed dog park in Fortune Green.
She believes the park would increase opportunities for residents to interact with their neighbours and help create a greater sense of community.
Jill’s petition has now nearly 700 signatures and hopes that talks with the council will occur in early March.
