A man has been arrested on suspicion of dealing Class A drugs in Aldgate.
Erdan Majestri, 23, was stopped by police in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Aldgate, as part of a routine traffic stop search.
When asked for identification, he presented Spanish driving licence.
Yet when questioned in Spanish by police he was unable to respond, alerting officers to the fact that the man might be using false papers.
After searching his car, police found eight sachets of cocaine and arrested the man on suspicion of dealing Class A drugs.
Majestri’s case was heard on Wednesday morning in the City of London Magistrates Court and a decision didn’t take long at all.
The two judges presiding over the case recognised the severity of the charge. They remanded Majestri in custody and refused bail.
The main charge set against him was Possession of a Class A drug, cocaine, with intent to deal.
He refused to tell police officers where he lived when questioned.
The court decided that this may mean he is an illegal immigrant and thus giving bail could allow him to escape the country.
Mr Majestri, with the aid of an Albanian translator, sat in silence throughout the judgement.
His lawyer pleaded guilty to all the charges laid against him.
These included Possession of Class A drug with intent to deal as well as possession of a false passport, driving licence and identification papers.
Majestri will remain in custody until his case is heard in the Inner London Crown Court on 19 December.
