Five men are being tried for the murder of a man outside Global Bar, Ilford on 11 November 2016.
The trial of Ionut Vasile, Araman Stoica, Florin-Daniel Ivan, Ionut Bogdan Cucu and Razvan Vladescu continued today in the Old Bailey, with Mr Vasile’s cross examination forming the basis of the day’s proceedings.
They are alleged to have beaten a man to death with a pick axe handle after a dispute in the club.
The Crown Prosecution Service’s legal advocate took the jury through a complex string of events that ran up to the incident, using CCTV footage from the Club as a major source of information.
During his cross examination Mr Vasile, who pleaded not guilty to the murder, told the court the events in that evening as he saw them.
In addition to the murder allegations, Mr Vasile defended accusations by the prosecution of using cocaine and driving through a red light on the night of the event.
There were 13 barristers in total in the court due to the number of people involved in the case.
The trial has gone on since the start of February of this year.
It will continue tomorrow in the Central Criminal Court.
