The London Bridge attackers stabbed a young woman in the head after she rushed to help another victim, the Old Bailey heard.
Dubbed the Angel Of London Bridge, the young woman allegedly told her friends: “I’m a nurse. I have to go and help”, the inquest heard.
Australian Kirsty Boden, 28, had rushed to help Boro Bistro waiter Alexandre Pigeard, 26, knifed on the evening of June 3 2017.
Mobile phone footage caught Kirsty Boden as she bent over the stricken Frenchman before all three knifemen attacked her.
The Old Bailey heard how Khuram Butt, 27, appeared to make a stabbing motion. Rachid Redouane, 30, and Youssef Zaghba, 22 then allegedly also moved in.
CCTV footage showed her clearly injured as she fled the carnage before she collapsed.
Ms Boden had been dining in the restaurant with two friends, Harriet Mooney and Melanie Schroeder, when the attackers’ van crashed into railings above.
Survivor, Marie Bondeville, says she begged for her life, fearing the terrorists were trying to cut off her head.
Ms Bondeville was dining with her boyfriend Oliver Dowling at Lobos Meat and Tapas restaurant on the evening of the attack.
Ms Bondeville said “I felt a punch to the right side of my face”. She also fell to the floor in “overwhelming pain” with the taste of blood in her mouth.
Following a huge blow as if from a “hammer or axe”, she disconnected from the pain and “played dead”, the inquest heard.
Eight people died on 3 June 2017. The inquests into the victims’ deaths began 10 days ago at the Old Bailey.
