What's the future for Huawei?

Smartphone technology, a TV show finale and…Bees! But what do they all have in common? Well…they are all the biggest stories Londoners are talking about today on social media.

Game of Thrones Finale

Undoubtedly the biggest trending topic on social media is the Game of Thrones final episode that aired in the early hours.

At one point today, over 2.36 million tweets in London alone were about the TV show; with six out of nine top trends in London were also related to the show.

There have been mixed responses to the finale, with many people praising the visuals but criticising the story lines.

Google vs Huawei

Another big story today is the next saga in the Huawei scandal. Google has announced that it has blacklisted Huawei from future Android updates after President Trump’s latest executive order.

Google has assured Huawei users that their current phones will continue to work. But future Huawei phones could lack key parts of the OS, like Google Maps and the Google Play app store.

Android’s comment on today’s decision received a high amount of traction:

On social media, Huawei has yet to respond. But there has been a lot of misinformation spreading on Twitter, with many people concerned that their phones won’t be working in the future.

The debate on Twitter has focused largely on the future of Huawei as well as if this decision is more political than is originally thought.

World Bee Day

And finally…today is World Bee Day, and many users have been sharing their love for these incredible insects!

Greenpeace are not only obstructing the BP office in London today,  but they are tweeting about Bees too. Trying to encourage people to vote for greener political parties.
