After a series of delays, two of the much-anticipated new electric trains will come into service on the London Overground this morning.
The trains will top up the service on the line from Gospel Oak to Barking. Earlier in the year, Transport for London cut the number of trains-per-hour to just two.
The rail regulator recently approved the new additions to the fleet but issues with software development are to blame for the delays.
Regular travellers on the line will get a month of free travel on it from September and TfL hopes to compensate for the lengthy wait for the new trains.
The new Class 710 electric trains were built by Bombardier in Derby. Around 700 people can fit on each one, which is double the number the old diesel trains used to carry.
More trains will come into service over the year, as more drivers complete their training. There should be a train every 15 minutes by the summer. This will be a relief to passengers on the busy service in North London.
The new trains will bring joy for tube geeks too, as the new trains will feature a brand new colour scheme and seat moquette!
