A railway worker has been injured after a serious assault on a train.
British Transport Police were called to Euston station early this morning after the incident at 07:09. They said a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and taken into custody.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said the victim is one of its members. Reports say that one person was taken to hospital.
RMT general secretary Mich Lynch said that ”This is an appalling incident that will send shockwaves through the whole railway family, and our thoughts are with our member, his colleagues and his family this morning.
“While we await the full facts, the union will be providing practical support to our member and the workforce at Euston as the police investigation continues.”
Trains in and out of Euston station were suspended, with dozens of trains on the West Coast mainline cancelled.

Many trains to Euston are still cancelled with most services that are running arriving late, due to “knock on” delays.
Trains were reported to be “backed up to Nuneaton,” almost 100 miles from the capital.
Those travelling between London and Birmingham have been encouraged to use Marylebone station instead, where their tickets will be accepted.
Passengers can also use East Midlands Railway, from London St Pancras for travel to and from locations further north, as well as LNER services from nearby King’s Cross.
