Officers were called to Starmer's property on Monday following a fire.

A 21-year-old Ukrainian man is to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court today, charged in connection with fires at two properties and a car linked to the Prime Minister.

Roman Lavrynovych, 21, is charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life after fires at two properties and a car linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

The first incident happened on Thursday last week, when a car on Sir Keir’s street was set ablaze.

The following Sunday, a fire was started at a block of flats in Islington, which was also linked to the Prime Minister. During this incident, the Fire Brigade said that someone was taken to safety via an internal staircase by crews wearing breathing apparatus.

The final incident occurred on Monday morning, when a fire caused damage to the entrance of Sir Keir’s property. No one was injured.

The force says that the investigation was led by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command. This is due to the connection with the prime minister.

Bethan David, head of the Crown Prosecution Service counter terrorism division, said: “These charges relate to two fires at residential addresses in Islington on Sunday May 11 and in Kentish Town on Monday May 12, as well as a car fire in Kentish Town on Thursday May 8.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial.”
