Star striker Harry Kane has started talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a new deal that would increase his wage from £50,000 a week.
The Spurs and England forward is hoping to earn around £120,000 a week to match wages of other footballers, including England team mate, Jamie Vardy, who earns the same figure at Leicester City.
The North London side are keen to agree a deal with their leading goal scorer, however Daniel Levy’s wage structure does not allow for such competitive salaries.
Speculation surrounding Kane’s future at the club is growing as interest from league rivals, Manchester City and Chelsea, mounts. Rival European clubs have also shown interest in the striker, as financial powerhouses Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are said to be following developments.
Harry Kane, who has been at Tottenham since 2009, still has 3 and a half years left in his current contract. However, it seems that Spurs may have to pay a more competitive wage in order to keep the striker at White Hart Lane.
