A group of 17 swimmers from Anaconda Swimming Club completed 41 events in the competition.

Nine finals were reached and a total of 17 personal bests were recorded.

Sixteen year old Tommy Donovan won gold in the 16 & under 50 metres breaststroke in a time of 30.26 seconds. He also took the silver medal in the 100m breaststroke in a time of 1.08.32.

Donovan is now third in the British rankings off the back of his performance in the competition. He reached three other finals: finishing fourth in the 200m breaststroke, eighth in the 50m freestyle and 10th in the 50m butterfly.

Anaconda’s third medal came from Elena Dewhurst who struck gold in the 16 & under 50m freestyle. Dewhurst made a time of 26.88 seconds. The exact same personal best time that saw her take first place at the British Summer Championships.

She also achieved fourth place in the 50m butterfly and a reserve for the 100m freestyle final. The youngster remains number one in the British rankings for 14 year old girls.

Donovan and Dewhurst have bettered their best times across the board. Both swimmers achieved quicker times in three of their races.

Esme Llewellyn-Smith, seventeen, was a reserve in the women’s open 50m butterfly final. This came after Llewellyn-Smith’s admirable performance in her heat where she set a new personal best of 31.08 seconds.

Twenty-four year old Anatoly Bugakov also took home a new personal best of 26.36 in the men’s open 50m butterfly. This allowed him to achieve seventh place.

Other swimmers to achieve better times include Dorothy Brock, Alice Hockey and Emily Thomas. Alice Bayley now holds a time of 2.51.28 in her 200m medley and Luke Dudley has a new time of 1.04.27 in his 100m butterfly.

Head coach Wayne Lock is very pleased with Anaconda’s performance. Lock says: “I feel pretty pleased with the results this early in the season considering the swimmers were untapered. It was great practice against good competitions. The swimmers will be reminded of what they need to focus on as we build through the training cycle.”

Anaconda will next compete on 2nd December in the ESC Christmas County Qualifiers.
