Conte voiced his frustrations in a press conference last night.

Despite Conte’s squad being stretched thin, particularly in terms of out-and-out strikers, the board have only been looking at players who would be available at cut-price deals – the most surprising being Stoke City striker Peter Crouch.
Last night’s loss, which also saw winger Willian suffer a hamstring injury, led to Conte venting his frustrations in the press conference immediately afterwards.
“In this competition, we played with young players,” said Conte. “I had to do the same in the FA Cup. But you have to know the risk is to go out. Against Norwich we risked this. I’m crazy if I think I can put the same players in every competition and risk a big injury. The Premier League is very important and the Champions League. Another game in the FA Cup, but it’s not simple and I don’t sleep because of this. You can see I don’t sleep.”
New signing Ross Barkley, who arrived at the club for £15m this transfer window, made his debut last night as a substitute for the injured Willian – Barkley himself having just come back from a hamstring injury. The new man failed to make his mark on the game, which will only serve to strengthen Conte’s belief that the board are signing players of the necessary quality to compete in all competitions.
Conte claimed he is having little input into who may come in, as he said: “I think the club decide our transfer market. As I said before, my task is to try to improve the team. About the transfer market, from the summer, the club decides every single player.”
