Conor McGregor is set to appear in court in Florida for alleged robbery of a fan’s mobile phone.
The 30-year-old is set to stand trial for two counts of robbery by sudden snatching and criminal mischief.
The damage in property is valued between $200 and $1,000.
The robbery is a third degree felony which carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment. The maximum jail time for criminal mischief on conviction is one year.
McGregor pleaded not-guilty to both counts on April 10 and subsequently his trial was set for today at 2pm at Miami Dade criminal court.
While a defendant in a criminal trial is required to attend, lawyers for Conor McGregor have indicated that the case may not proceed this morning. McGregor’s representative’s have said they want to conclude the matter today.
McGregor has a chequered history with the law. In March he was arrested at Miami Beach, Florida after allegedly taking a fan’s phone and damaging it.
Police said the alleged victim was trying to take a picture of McGregor outside a hotel, when the MMA fighter slapped the man’s phone out of his hand and stomped on it several times.
McGregor had previously escaped a criminal record after pleading guilty following an incident at a UFC event in April of 2018.
McGregor hurled a bin at the window of a bus, smashing the window and injuring fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg. Both were injured by shattered glass and were unable to compete.
