Olympic gold medalist Maddie Hinch is in contention to play in next month’s Female International Hockey Pro League matches. She returns to the women’s central programme following a 10-month absence.
The reigning three-time world goalkeeper of the year could make her first appearance against Germany on June 7. Games against Australia follow two days later, and the Dutch and New Zealand later that month.
“After 10 months away from the international game, I am absolutely delighted to be back with the Great Britain Hockey programme,” said Hinch. She returns to the sport with her eyes on Tokyo Olympics 2020.
“My time away has allowed me time to recharge, mentally and physically, and renew my ambitions in the game whilst continuing to play at the highest level of women’s club hockey over in the Netherlands.
“I feel I’m in a great place to rejoin the group and hope to be part of what is an incredibly important journey ahead.”
