Danny Cipriani has been named Premiership Player of the Season. But will the Gloucester fly-half be able to catch the eye of England coach Eddie Jones?

After a season in which he assisted more tries than any of Premiership player, Cipriani has been named the Player of the year.

Cipriani, 31, has been in magical form. Gloucester now take on Saracens in the Premiership semi-finals this weekend.

But it remains to be seen if his performances will be enough to force his way into England’s Rugby World Cup plans.

With the World Cup due to take place in Japan this September, Eddie Jones’ England team will be going there as one of the favourites.

Throughout Jones’ reign, Cipriani has only featured for England twice.

Jones has favoured Leicester Tigers George Ford or Saracens star Owen Farrell in the position.

But now he’s won all of rugby’s top individual awards this year, there will be growing pressure on Jones to pick Cipriani.

Cipriani isn’t without his controversy. He had a string of highly publicised relationships, most famously with TV star Kelly Brook. And he has had various run-ins with the law, including being fined for drink-driving.

His move to London Wasps in 2016 and subsequent transfer to Gloucester in 2018 saw a revival in his form.

Now Cipriani will hope his fine form is rewarded with a chance to represent his country.
