When most sports teams aren’t playing in the off-season, players and fans can look forward to their side getting some rest, making new signings, and developing as a whole. However, players and fans of one sports team have spent their break wondering whether or not they’ll have a club to come back to.

The London Broncos are a rugby league side who play in Wimbledon. They are set to start the new season in the Championship in two weeks. However, due to investment issues, they have spent large amounts of their off-season wondering whether or not they’ll have a club to come back to.

How did the issues start?

Due to a low IMG score, the Broncos found themselves being relegated. This has taken them from the first division of Rugby League, The Super League, to the Championship.

Following this, owner David Hughes revealed he would be selling the club. David Hughes had owned the club for 27 years. This news left the club without any funding and without any clear plan for their future.

The effect on the squad.

Broncos captain Will Lovell had said that although he knew the club would be okay, there were members of the squad wondering whether or not there would be a club. He said that it was massive for the sport that London was represented.

He also spoke about how all the players were looking forward to the start of the season and getting the club back to the Super League.

What’s the situation now?

Recently, while speaking to club media, coach Mike Eccles said that the club had stabilized over the last two months.

He also said that although they are not out of the woods, they’ve got a couple of investment options on the table.

The Broncos start the Championship season on February 16th when they travel to Bradford to face the Bradford Bulls.
