The founder of Agent Provocateur Joe Corré has spoken today about his plans to burn his entire five million pound punk collection in Camden Town this Saturday.
The 48-year-old son is the son of The Sex Pistols manager Malcolm Maclaren and designer Vivienne Westwood. He was speaking at an event in Bloomsbury Square in central London.
The destruction of his collection is in protest of the adoption of punk by the mainstream.
Corré said earlier this year that punk “had become like a…museum piece or a tribute act” rather than “a movement for change.” He added “people are feeling numb …we need to explode all the shit once more.”
He hopes the burning will add a dash of anarchy to London this Saturday – on the 40th anniversary of the Sex Pistols’ Anarchy in the UK.
