2017 Turner Prize winner Lubaina Himid's art explores Black identity and questions structural discrimination.

Turner Prize winner Lubaina Himid will be displaying a hitherto of her work in an art exhibition starting this Saturday at Hollybush Gardens in Clerkenwell.
Lubaina Himid’s art includes paintings, drawings, installations and prints. Her work is known for being politically critical, often focusing on issues of race, gender and class.
Hollybush Garden’s director Lisa Panting told City News that this is Himid’s first show since she won the prize in December.
She won the Turner Prize in 2017, at the age of 63, making her the oldest artist and the first woman of colour to win the prize.
At the time of her win, she said: “I won it … for all the black women who never did win it even though they had been shortlisted … It feels good for that reason.”
She had said that she would spend the £25,000 she won from the Turner prize to commission other artists.
Turner prize is often referred to as on e of the world’s best known contemporary art prizes.
