Central School of Ballet will move into a new state-of-the-art centre on London's South Bank.

Central School of Ballet has started work on new premises. It will move to the heart of London’s arts community on the Southbank.
The school has finally reached its target of £9 million to install a new centre. This will be between Hatfields and Paris Gardens.
In 2017, Central pushed forward with fundraising the extra £6 million to advance the project. This included a £600,000 grant from the Arts Impact Fund.
A further £3 million of funding came in a loan from Southwark Council. The school is continuing with its fundraising efforts in order to pay money back to the council.
Work in progress for over a decade
Plans to move the ballet school from its current Clerkenwell location to the new space were first announced twelve years ago.
The Paris Gardens site will feature seven studios and a fully-equipped theatre, as well as study and resource centres.
It will also incorporate a health suite providing psychology, nutrition and physiotherapy programmes for dancers.

Heidi Hall, Director of the Central School of Ballet, said: “In the Paris Gardens building we will be able to provide world-class facilities to match our students’ ambition.
“We will have space to grow, to nurture creativity at all levels. We can inspire partnerships and encourage the local community to experience our passion for dance.”
Southwark Councillor Peter John said: “This is wonderful news.”
He added, “We look forward to seeing the finished building and officially welcoming the Central School of Ballet as part of Southwark’s growing reputation as a cultural destination.”
Students on Central’s undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes will use the new premises from start of the academic year in 2019/20.
