Twilight actor Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson is being tipped as the next Batman.

The Twilight actor is said to currently be in talks to play the role.

Entertainment news platform Variety says that Pattinson, 33, is the top choice to play the Superhero Warner Bros film.

Meanwhile, fellow entertainment news site Deadline has hinted that X-Men actor Nicholas Hoult is also in the running.

The new Batman movie will be directed by Matt Reeves and is expected to come out in June 2021.

Reeves’ previous titles include 2008  horror Cloverfield and two Planet of the Apes films

Affleck took on the role, appearing in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Justice League in 2017.

Both films were panned by critics and he left officially the role in 2019 saying  “it was time to let someone take a shot at it.

“Don’t do it Ben!”

Former Batman George Clooney says he warned Affleck not to take on the role of the Dark Knight.

“I actually did talk to him about it,” Clooney said. “I said, ‘Don’t do it.'”

Clooney played Batman in 1997’s Batman & Robin, replacing Val Kilmer.

The actor often makes light of his reputation as  ‘the worst Batman’

British Batman?

With Pattinson and Hoult as front runners, it looks like a British Batman is on the cards.

Director Reeves has said he wants to take the film in a different direction.

“It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.”

“The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been.”
