Liverpool football player Mohamed Salah described his waxwork at Madame Tussauds as “a blessing”.
The famous footballer saw his waxwork for the first time last weekend and was delighted with the result.
“I couldn’t believe it when I stood alongside ‘me’, it’s like looking at my own reflection in a mirror. I can’t wait to see what the fans think […] It’s a blessing to be recognised and immortalised in this way,” Salah said.
Salah worked closely with artists to ensure his waxwork was accurate. As a result, the depiction pays close attention to detail. It wears the suit Salah wore on the front cover of GQ Middle East magazine and the hands point up in recognition of his goal celebration.
Tim Waters, general manager at Madame Tussauds London said “We’re sure a lot of people would have expected to see Mo’s figure styled in his Liverpool kit, but we really wanted to mark his international superstar status and he feels right at home in our Awards Party zone.”
The superstar became Liverpool’s top player quickly when he joined the club in 2017. He broke the Premier League record for goals and helped the club win their first Premier League title.
“Mo Salah is one of the game’s greats, arguably the best in the world right now, and incredibly deserving of a Madame Tussauds London figure,” said Tim.
“We can’t wait to see fans posing alongside Salah for selfies, emulating his classic goal scoring pose.”
From 22 October, the waxwork will be open to the public, alongside the statues of David Beckham, Dame Helen Mirren and Brad Pitt.
