The artist has described it as “a dream” to represent her country in this musical competition.
She will compete against 37 other countries.
“To compete in such a massive competition is simply brilliant”, she said, after being one of the last acts to be announced for this year’s song contest.
‘I wrote a song’ is an upbeat breakup track. Muller sings about all the things she hopes to do to sabotage her ex.
The artist was selected by the BBC who worked alongside TaP Music Management to make the decision. According to BBC music correspondent, Mark Savage: “Mae’s sassy north London charisma conveys the depth of her contempt”.
This year’s contest will be held in Liverpool. Typically, the winners from the previous year become the contest’s hosts, but it was ruled too dangerous for the event to take place in Ukraine.
Tickets to Muller’s performance have sold out in 90 minutes.
The London singer has previously supported artists like Little Mix, Aitch and Sigala on tour.
Muller hopes to use this opportunity to prove that the UK should be “back on the left-hand side of the leader board”.
She is hoping that being born the last year that the UK won the contest, 1997, is not just a coincidence.
Sam Ryder’s runner up Eurovision performance in 2022
Muller hopes to follow the success of Sam Ryder, the UK’s entry last year. The TikTok star, who performed ‘Space Man’, came second behind Ukraine.
He has passed on his tips for success to Muller.
