With a unique range of colours, textures and sizes – thanks to Kim, your carpet doesn’t have to match the drapes!

Fans have splashed out a whooping £34 for essentially a bit of fur on a piece of string – a look most of us could grow for free.

However, it has sparked conversations online, many mocking those who purchased the unique underwear look, but also others wondering if our body hair habits are evolving.

Following the summer trend of ‘full bush in a bikini’, Kim has hopped on the band wagon with her recent business venture.

Selling out hours after the release, there’s clearly a market.

But should feminists hail this product as a victory for female empowerment, or just another cash grab that profits over female insecurities?

A study of 1560 women by the Journal of Sexual Medicine, published in 2024, found that 70.3% of British women groomed their pubic hair. That leaves nearly a third who simply let their garden grow.

Speaking to Londoners, its clear attitudes are changing.

One woman emphasised that although she preferred shaving, it’s very much different strokes for different folks.

Another argued that she could “grow a bush for free” rather than seeing the need to splash out on Kim’s furry thong.

Of all the Londoners I spoke to, only one hadn’t heard of the Kardashian’s latest business venture. But not one said they’d add a pair to their basket.

For life model and fashion content creator Meg Foster (@alottameg on TikTok), the thongs are a little more than a gimmick.

Foster, who focuses her content on body positivity, fashion and sustainability, said she saw the funny side to the thong, as a bit of ‘camp’.

In her styling video, she placed them over the outfit, letting the thong do all the talking.

Here is how I would style the Skims pubes! I think they’re so perfect for office siren. Can’t imagine HR would have a problem with it. #skims #bush #styling #fashion

She emphasised her neutrality surrounding body hair. She doesn’t regularly shave – not to make a statement but because that’s just how she wants to express herself.

Talking about the changing tide of Londoners putting down the razors, she applauded London as a city that allows everyone to be individual.

She did highlight that although it is a tricky time to be a woman, overall London is an empowering place to live.

Although the thongs, and the seasonal trend of full bush summer have allowed women to embrace a more natural look. Meg believes “people aren’t ready for full bush”.

She emphasised that society is still coming to terms with women having leg and armpit hair. Let alone rocking a natural look down below.

We are lucky to live in a city that gives us the luxury of choice. As Meg illustrated, in London, there’s plenty of room for personal expression. Maybe Kim’s furry thong has caused quite the stir online, but in real life it’s not a big fuss – so keep your hair (or don’t)!
