A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed following a misconduct hearing for drug possession while at work.
The officer, named as Detective Constable Hashim Waseem was found in possession of drugs while on duty.
Detective Constable Waseem was attached to the West London boroughs known in the Met police as the “West Area” and was found to have breached the Met police standards of professional behaviour.
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson said: “It is extremely concerning that DC Waseem thought it was acceptable to be carrying drugs while at work” .
The hearing report revealed that on 6 July 2022, an officer found a package on the floor of a police building. The package was tested and it was found to contain cocaine.
A review of the Met Police CCTV showed that DC Waseem had dropped a wrap of cocaine while on duty. He was arrested, searched and two packets of cocaine were found in his possession.
DC Waseem will now be added to the College of Policing Barred List. This is a list of officers that cannot be employed by police or local policing bodies.
