Police have raided 16 addresses in an operation that took place in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Fourteen men and three women have been arrested in connection with human trafficking in east London.
Scotland Yard raided properties in Redbridge, Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Newham, Brentwood and Tower Hamlets in the early hours of Thursday.
Those held were arrested on suspicion of modern slavery, controlling prostitution, Class A drug offences and firearm offences.

This was alongside four raids in Romania with the goal of “dismantling an organised crime network and providing support to the victims”.

The Romanian Police attaché in the UK, said: “Today’s operation is another example of our excellent bilateral cooperation.
