Police officers have arrested a 48-year-old woman as the second suspect in connection with the stabbing of Islington ‘flower man’ Tony Eastlake.

The woman was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender. She was taken to a north London police station where she was released on bail. She is due to return later in June.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man has been charged with murdering Tony Eastlake. The man appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court earlier today. The case was sent to the Old Bailey, where the man is due to appear on Monday.

Mr Eastlake, 55, was stabbed near his Essex Road flower stall on Saturday afternoon. He had worked there for over 40 years.
