Trains leaving and arriving at London Liverpool Street station faced substantial delays after a person died following being hit.
A spokesperson for the Transport Police confirmed that officers were called to the line near Walthamstow. The incident happened shortly before 7 am on Thursday following reports of a person on the track.
Paramedics also attended however the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The spokesperson added that officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.
This morning’s emergency incident impacted Greater Anglia routes, London Overground trains and the Stansted Express.
National Rail has now confirmed that lines are now open, however, trains may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or diverted.
On the National Rail website, they have said that they expect disruption to continue until 12 pm.
