Insulate Britain protestors are preventing MPs from attending Parliament. Over 60 protesters are blocking a road to Westminster Bridge and a Parliament entrance.  Around 30 have glued themselves to the ground and police are working to remove them.

The demonstration has delayed MPs reaching the House of Commons.  Speaker of the House Sir Lindsay Hoyle is accusing the protesters of ‘interfering with democracy.’ Her comments come after Conservative MP Darren Henry was delayed from entering Parliament to participate in transport questions.

‘7 million in fuel poverty 8.5000 died last year from the cold we’re not the traitors […] they’ve got to do their job’ said protestor.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told the House of Commons almost 500 injunctions have been served on group members. He added, ‘preventing members from getting into the chamber which is completely unacceptable.’

In a statement Insulate Britain have said: ‘This government refused to do the right thing. It couldn’t even bring itself to make a meaningful statement we can trust on insulation, never mind start the enormous task of retrofitting 29 million homes.’

Insulate Britain have staged numerous demonstrations over the last two months.  Earlier this week the group blocked various key roads across the country including junction 23 of the M25 outside London. They are calling on the government to insulate all housing by 2030.
