Tottenham and Liverpool supporter’s groups have called on UEFA sponsors to return tickets for the Champions League Final in Madrid. They want more fans to be able to attend.
Only 33,286 tickets have been allocated to the Premier League clubs, but there are 68,000 tickets in total for the Madrid final.
In order to try and increase their allocated numbers, fan representatives are reaching out in a bid to sway the Union’s stakeholders before the final on 1st June.
The groups say the move will “lift the occasion by increasing the number of passionate fans inside the stadium.”
In March, UEFA’s website said the two finalists would receive 17,000 tickets each and 4,000 will be sold to fans worldwide.
The remaining 30,000 seats at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium will go to UEFA’s partners.
THST and SOS say their ticket allocations will mean many fans miss out on attending the showpiece final. The groups have already asked their clubs to subsidise the cost of tickets.
Liverpool held a ballot to determine which fans received the remainder of tickets. Thousands missed out and are on a waiting list. Since then, tickets have appeared on the resale website Stubhub pricing from £3,012.
Arsenal and Chelsea
Fans of Arsenal and Chelsea are also frustrated over the number of tickets allocated to the Premier League clubs for the Champions League final. They meet in the Europa League final on 29th May.
The London clubs will share just 12,000 of 68,700 seats at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan.
UEFA have said the number of tickets issued was influenced by the difficulties fans will face in reaching Baku. But this is despite the fact European football’s governing body chose the host city over Seville and Istanbul in 2017.
