Triple killer, Kyle Clifford, has been sentenced to one life of imprisonment with a whole-life order.
Judge Mr Justice Bennathan said of Clifford: “The evidence I have heard shows you to be a jealous man soaked in self-pity – a man who holds women in utter contempt.
Clifford refused to appear at his sentencing for the rape and murder of his former partner, Louise Hunt and the murder of her sister with a crossbow and their mother with a 10-inch butchering knife.
Kyle Clifford, 26, has previously admitted to the murders of Louise Hunt, 28-year-old Hannah Hunt and their 61-year-old mother Carol Hunt, the wife of BBC racing commentator John Hunt.
John Hunt, in his victim impact statement today, said the screams of hell are awaiting Clifford.
“The screams of hell, Kyle. I can hear them faintly now.”
“They’re going to roll the red carpet out for you.”
Phil Bradley KC, Clifford’s lawyer, said that the defendant’s offending was “quite simply appalling”. However he asked Judge Bennathan to not impose a whole life term.
Prosecutor Alison Morgan KC unveiled this morning that Clifford had two conversations with his brother Bradley Clifford, who is in prison serving a life sentence for murder. Days before the attack, Clifford mentioned that he had ordered a crossbow, air rifle and Japanese sword.
Judge, Mr Justice Joel Bennathan, said he needed time to consider the sentence he will pass and that he would return to do so at 2pm.
