Greece is currently listed as amber on the government's traffic light system.

Ministers are set to announce changes to the government’s travel list today.

The colour coded travel list is reviewed every three weeks and countries are assigned as red, amber or green.

Finland and Malta could be added to the green list as part of today’s changes.

Holidaymakers coming back from green list countries don’t have to self-isolate when they return.

But, they must take a coronavirus test on their arrival.

Currently, Portugal is the only major tourist destination on the green list.

There are concerns though that it could be moved to amber.

Alongside Malta and Finland, other countries that stand a chance of making the list include Italy and Cyprus, as well as some Greek and Spanish islands.

But the government has warned the testing system could be “overwhelmed” if too many countries are added to the green list.

The government advises against non-essential travel to amber countries.

Those who do go have to quarantine for 10 days and take two coronavirus tests on their return.

There is currently a travel ban in place for countries on the red list, such as India.

A new facility has opened at Heathrow Airport for returning red list passengers.

The prime minister said, “we’ve got to continue to put countries on the red list, on the amber list, if we have to do so.”

Speaking at a G7 meeting of health ministers today, Matt Hancock, said vaccine passports are still “some way off”.
