Anton Du Beke is Strictly's longest-serving dancer.

Anton Du Beke will replace Bruno Tonioli on this year’s Strictly judging panel.

Mr Du Beke has already tried his hand at judging, after appearing as a judge for a two-week stint last year. Now, however, he’s set to become a permanent fixture. He’s also been the show’s longest-serving dancer, having appeared on every series of the show since it began on BBC One in 2004. His partners have included politician Ann Widdecombe, soap star Emma Barton and former home secretary Jacqui Smith.

Bruno Tonioli, who Mr Du Beke is replacing, is currently in the US, where he’ll appear as a Judge on Dancing With The Stars. He’s unable to take part in this year’s Strictly due to ongoing uncertainty around travel restrictions.

Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas will all be returning to the panel this year.

A positive response

Strictly professionals are rushing to congratulate Mr Du Beke on his new role. Oti Mabuse wrote in an Instagram post: “He made it! JUDGE @mrantondubeke super proud of you Anton and so happy!”

Strictly Dancer Johannes Radebe joined in on the well wishes, tweeting that “This is amazing news! my oh my we’ll miss our @BrunoTonioli”.

Bruno Toniolo himself, meanwhile, rushed to praise his replacement. He said: “Anton IS Mr Strictly and if anybody is filling in for me, it has to be him. I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way and I am so excited to see him waggle his paddle.”
